Assists the public by receiving and processing payments for personal property and real estate taxes, estimated and state income taxes. Answers calls from citizens; answers questions; provides information and handles problems. Counts and verifies cash and checks; balances cash drawer; verifies bank statements. Processes dog licenses. Collects miscellaneous fees such as DMV stop fees, returned check fees and land use fees. Places DMV stop on delinquent accounts and removes when paid. Researches returned mail, notes and accounts; forwards to corrected address. Performs general office tasks; receives and processes incoming and outgoing mail. Assists with bookkeeping as required. Prepares journal entries as needed. Prepares word documents and Excel spreadsheets. Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested by the Treasurer. Participates in employee meetings and training as needed. Performs special projects as assigned. Meets attendance requirements and maintains the highest level of dependability. Consistently demonstrates ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, and reprioritizes work as necessary.
Minimum of two year college degree in Accounting. Minimum two (2) years working in accounting field and experience involving customer service. General knowledge of the principles underlying the laws, ordinances and regulations governing the operations of the Treasurer’s Office; general knowledge of the principles, methods and practices of accounting, knowledge of business and office practices; ability to analyze and interpret fiscal and accounting data and to prepare appropriate statements and reports; ability to operate standard office equipment; computer processing; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
